Writing tips

Choose a theme

Focus your quiz on a specific subject area. Subject areas can be narrow (for instance “Clowns”) or a little broader (“Circus”). Avoid creating quizzes for very broad categories such as ""Music"". Narrow themes are a lot more fun!

Writer’s block?

Books, Wikipedia and Google are good sources of inspiration. Your questions are saved while you’re creating your quiz so you can take a break and come back later.

Timeless writing

Your questions should work just as well in a year as today. Avoid questions related to “today”, “now”, “recently”, etc. Don’t write for instance “Who is Elizabeth Taylor married to?” Instead, write “Who was Elizabeth Taylor’s first husband?"".

Vary the difficulty

Ask questions of various difficulties. A mix of easy, medium and hard questions is best. If you choose to write questions that are mostly easy or difficult, write that in the quiz description so players know before they play.

Are you writing for a specific group?

Adjust the degree of difficulty and content to the group's knowledge of the subject area. You could for instance write a Football quiz and invite your football team mates. Then you can create questions specifically for your team mates.
